Holy Temples/
Sacred Gardens
This walk is not currently running as a
public event, but can be booked for private
groups, please contact us for details.
This walk is called Holy Temples/ Sacred
Gardens. Starting from Tower Hill, we visit
one of the oldest of the City's churches to
view an artifact preserved from the order of
the Knights Templar. This sets the scene for
the theme of our walk which covers the
history of the Templars, and will finish
within the gardens of the Temple district,
on the western side of the City of London.
In between these locations, we visit the
City's most beautiful and peaceful garden
within the walls of a ruined church, then see
the Thames from elevated walkways
unknown to most Londoners, and then visit
the gardens around St. Paul's Cathedral. We
then continue on our westward walk to the
Temple precinct, where we will visit the
Inner Temple gardens and the famous
Fountain Court as featured in the Dickens
novel 'Martin Chuzzlewit'.
Amazingly, the whole walk is almost
entirely traffic free! This walk explores the
history of the Knights Templar (a
mysterious order made all the more
intriguing by modern detective mysteries
such as Dan Brown's 'Da Vinci Code'.) The
walk also introduces you to some of the
most beautiful and peaceful gardens and
churches in the City of London.
